Erik Hanberg Presentation

I wasn't present for Erik's presentation last week, so I read through everyone's blogposts to find out what he talked about. I also looked him up to learn more about him. Suffice to say, I regret missing his presentation as it seemed like he talked about a lot of interesting things. One of the more interesting things I read about in everyone's blogposts were the graphs that Erik showed to explain the contrast between being an entrepreneur and working for someone in a steady job. On the one hand, the employee will probably experience steady growth but he will probably reach a ceiling. On the other hand, the entrepreneur will have a hard time building up his or her company but if they do, the sky is the limit. Another thing that I really found interesting was how Erik had different sources of income. For example, he had his company Side x Side and he was also a published author. It made me realize that I could have a main source of income while also doing other things o

3 business ideas

I had a harder time than I thought I would have while thinking about three business ideas. I think one of the biggest reasons for this was because of something we talked about in class last week: that is, the difference between a product and a feature. I had a bunch of ideas for an application, but I wasn't sure if they could be considered business ideas. This was the biggest issue I faced when thinking about my three business ideas. That being said, here are my three business ideas: Campus Parking This was an idea we had built a prototype for in a past class that I thought had a lot of potential. Basically, we found that campus parking was a huge issue, not only on UWT campus, but other college and university campuses in the area. This idea would improve the parking situation for students. Basically, its an app where students who are parked notify other students when they are about to leave, so students who are searching for a parking spot can take the spot of the student who

What I Expect

Before the first day, I didn't really know what this class would be about. I mean, I had signed up for it, but I admit that it was because I was told it was an easy upper-level class. This is my last quarter and I just wanted to take it easy. In any case, I got a good idea of what the class would be about during the first class session and I liked what I heard. It was cool to hear about some of your experiences as an entrepreneur and some of the lessons you learned when starting your own company. I think it was interesting to see how many CS students were taking this class, but I guess it makes sense given the whole culture of tech startups that is big in the Seattle area. I think it is fair for me to say that I didn't take this class because I wanted to start a business of my own, but it was something that I kept in the back of my mind coming in to this class. I guess the idea of being my own boss appealed to me. I remember thinking about a really close friend of mine who is a
